Fundraise for Home-Start
There is a huge need in Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead and the surrounding area for Home-Start’s unique service. Hundreds of families in our area need the charity’s help and this number is expected to increase over the next five years. Three of Slough’s 14 wards are still amongst the most deprived in the south east.
We do not receive any government funding and depend entirely on grants and donations to fund our vital work. It costs around £300,000 a year to run our scheme and recruit and train volunteers to provide home-based support for vulnerable and struggling families.

The emotional, physical and psychological cost for children experiencing tragedy, hardship and neglect is immense and can last a life-time.
The need for our work is acute and growing. In the UK right now:
- 6 million children live in severe poverty
- 93,000 children live in care – an increase of 10,000 in 10 years
- 1 in 10 children aged between 5 and 16 have a mental health problem
- 2 million children are regular witnesses to severe forms of domestic violence
